About the Photographer

Suchen SK's life began by being born to Malaysian parents of Indian decent on December 5th, 1974 in Perlis, Malaysia. Growing up just on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur city, Suchen knew that there was something different about him from the rest of the other Malaysians. Having a passion for music, people, photography and entertaining, he knew that he had to leave Malaysia and explore what was out there. His free spirited nature combined with his determination gave him the courage to leave Malaysia. He set his sails to Australia. There he got his degree in music production and realized that the world was his oyster. It was time to get a degree in life.

From there, he travelled to New Zealand and travel bug hit him. He photographed the world as he saw it. There he promised himself that nothing would get in the way of accomplishing his dream, to see the world. No job, no woman, nor money would get in the way him seeing the world till the age of 30. Most people save to travel while Suchen thought outside the box and travelled while saving along the way. Living and working in the countries that he travelled to allowed him to experience and feel the local flavour of that country. Travelling became the job. People look for jobs most of the time within their country while he went to countries and found work there. His Motto: Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. (Confucius)

He's also worked as a construction worker, a painter, a waiter, a doorman, an usher, a filing clerk, an English teacher, a DJ, a bar-tender, a bar-designer, a roadie, and currently manages a chain of picture rental businesses as well.

Most people do not follow their dreams even though they may have the means to do so. Suchen did not have the means but he had a dream. But most remarkably, he made his dreams a reality. His motto, "everyman dies, but not everyman really lives," is a quintessential part of who Suchen is.

A regret of his is that he never kept a journal but when he looks back, he has realized that his journal was in his photography.

Like a diamond in the rough, Suchen was that piece of carbon needing the pressure and heat, waiting for life to challenge him. He has taken life by the horns and now has become that brilliant diamond that is ageless, timeless, and the envy of all. He has touched the hearts of thousands of people around the world. They use terms like, easy going, non-judgemental, down to earth, strong willed, gregarious, and confident to describe Suchen's character. But one word covers it all, loving. His love for people is so apparent that he can turn the heart of stone into a friend.

Who he has become is due to his relentless pursuit of following his heart and dreams. He would not be who he is without having gone through the journey of seeing the world.

He wished that a short bio be written of him so that he can touch and inspire the readers through his photography so that they too can follow their dreams and fulfil their personal legend. After all, isn't life all about self-discovery? Hopefully he can encourage those who are fearful to follow their dreams through his example that he has laid forth for us all.

Suchen’s photographs have also been recently used by National Geographic and Readers Digest Asia. And his clients today include the Malaysian Royal Family, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, The Malaysian Government, to name a few. He is also for the past 3 years been the official photographer for the Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak, Borneo Malaysia.
